Association of Chartered Certified Accountants

Association of Chartered Certified Accountants http://www.accaglobal.com

ACCA is the largest and fastest growing international accountancy body. We currently offer ongoing training and career support to over 260,000 students and 110,000 members in 170 countries.

Today’s complex business world means that organisations must cope with unparalleled speed of change in products, services, markets and technologies. Nowhere is this more apparent than in the UK finance function.

The demands on UK finance professionals are growing, with accountants needing to understand both the local and international accounting environments, and contribute to the good governance and management of their organisations. Having well-trained finance staff has rarely been so important. At the same time, non-financial managers are increasingly expected to have financial knowledge and skills.

ACCA's reputation is grounded in over 100 years of providing accounting and financial qualifications. Committed to lifelong learning, our programmes are designed to suit the needs of accountants, finance professionals and non-finance professionals with financial responsibility at all stages of their careers.

Our portfolio of qualifications includes the Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) scheme, the ACCA qualification and the Diploma in Financial Management. In keeping with ACCA's commitment to lifelong learning, we have also developed a range of further qualifications, including Diplomas and Certificates in International Financial Reporting and Auditing, Corporate Governance, and a unique tailored MBA.

These market-driven set of qualifications are based on the highest professional, intellectual and ethical standards. Personal and virtual study options have been developed to ensure that you have maximum control over what you learn, the way you learn it and the pace at which you work. These courses are offered by colleges and universities across the UK.

Qualifications

The CAT Scheme is based on national standards of competence designed for technician and finance support staff. It also acts as a stepping stone to the ACCA Qualification and a career as an ACCA accountant.

The ACCA Qualification, ACCA's professional accounting qualification, is designed to provide the accounting knowledge, skills and professional values which will deliver finance professionals who are capable of building successful careers. It contains an exciting mix of mandatory and optional performance objectives, concentrating on professional values, ethics and governance – essential skills needed for the finance profession as it moves towards strengthened codes of conduct, regulation and legislation. The syllabus allows for specialism in both financial and management accounting areas, and is recognised and respected by employers in all business sectors, across the world. A partnership with Oxford Brookes University enables students to study for a BSc Honours degree in Applied Accounting, as well as an MBA course after qualification. ACCA also offers a Mature Student Entry Route (MSER) for those not meeting the minimum entry requirements.

The Diploma in Financial Management is designed for those in management positions who need relevant financial awareness. It is built around a unique one year programme that can be studied via distance learning, and is assessed through a combination of exams and project-based assessments.

For both the ACCA Qualification and the CAT Scheme, the practical experience requirement can take place before, during or after studying for the ACCA examinations.
Examinations are held twice a year, in June and December, in more than 300 exam centres around the world. You can progress through the syllabus at your own pace, taking a maximum of four papers at any one session.

One of the greatest strengths of the ACCA qualifications is the breadth and depth of the subjects covered. Your qualification will be recognised all over the world, so there really are no limits to where they can take you. ACCA is truly global, having an extensive network of over 70 staffed offices and other centres around the world.

As part of ACCA, you will learn to challenge established thinking, embrace new technologies, develop relevant attitudes and abilities and continually assess the wider possibilities available in a shrinking world. In this way, we will provide you with all the tools to ensure your career success.
