The procedures for dealing with road traffic claims that fall between £1,000 and £10,000 in value are being streamlined using a new online portal from the Ministry of Justice. All companies that act for claimants where the claim is instigated after the 6th of May 2010 have to follow the new process. This can be done manually by logging into the MOJ web site and re entering the claim information MOJ plan to launch their A2A web services by the deadline date allowing companies to interface their case management software directly to the portal and saving the manual work.

DPS have been involved in the MOJ changes from a very early stage so are well aware of the changes and has modified their software accordingly.

The new software includes:

Automatic inception of files - A function in DPS and soon in Access, whereby the software can read a completed or partially completed CNF form in PDF format then take the information keyed in and create a matter and client from it. This means that a work provider can complete or partially complete a CNF form in PDF format (or on the web) and then send it to the solicitor dealing with the claim.

Submission to the MOJ portal uses web services - stage 1- The software has been geared up to use the MOJ Web services an area the DPS have a vast amount of experience in. Data is taken directly from the created PDF form on the system and assembled for the MOJ using MOJ web services. All the deadlines for response and acknowledgment are monitored by the system becoming tasks for the claim handler to manage.

Updates for claim status changes - DPS Software has now been set so that it can automatically poll the MOJ portal for changes in status of any claim. These changes are then communicated back to the claim handler on the system periodically during the day.
