Costs Assistant
The role of the Costs Assistant is often recognised as an entry level position to Legal Costs.  The background of individuals that enter this type of role can differ dramatically from school/college leavers through to individuals who have years of experience in another field and are looking for a carer change.  The position normally offers an excellent opportunity to work alongside experienced costs professionals and develop skills and knowledge within this field.  The type of work an individual gains exposure to will depend on the firms client base.  (Job Spec available soon)

Legal Costs Negotiator
The role of the Legal Costs Negotiator has seen many changes in recent years as a result of legislative and industry changes.  Many costs negotiators possess a legal education and use the experience to develop their advocacy skills.  The key responsibilities are to recover or justify legal costs on receipt of a bill from a 3rd party, whilst ensuring compliance to legislative regulations.  The Costs negotiator does not often gain exposure to drafting bills although aspiring to the role of the Costs Draftsperson is often the next step in their career.  (Job Spec available soon)

Law Costs Draftsperson
Law Costs Draftspersons are concerned with all aspects of solicitors' costs which are controlled by statute.  A draftspersons job is to maximise costs recovery for a receiving party and to minimise costs liability for a paying party.  As well as a detailed knowledge of costs regulations, the draftsman also has to keep up to date with recent costs cases.  A draftsperson may gain exposure to the following areas of costs; Solicitors & Client Costs, Public Funded (Legal Aid) Costs or Costs Payable Between Parties.  (Job Spec available soon)
