NICHE LAW FIRMS
Some firms specialise in a particular area of Law. These firms train their lawyers to be experts in their chosen area and are often considered to offer the highest quality in their field. These firms are often much smaller practices that work with a select clientbase in providing high quality legal services.
As a reflection of the size of many Niche/Boutique Law firms, the roles offer greater exposure to a varied workload. As is often the case, these firms employ a Practice Manager in favour of a Finance Director and/or Financial Controller.
A Practice Management role will encompass a wide range of responsibilities including Finance, Marketing, Human Resources, Administration & Management. Depending on the size of the firm the Practice Manager may receive support from a Legal Cashier to manage the day to day transactions.
Working in this environment is often perceived as an excellent way to learn with the right level of supervision and training. Individuals gain exposure to a wider skill-set and responsibilities working in a small team.
Examples include:
Sharpe Pritchard - Public Sector Sacker & Partners LLP - Pensions Schillings - Media Bindman & Partners – Criminal Law
