InTechnology brings power-efficient data hosting to Reading
Leading cloud services provider InTechnology is helping businesses in the UK boost their green credentials and meet future hosting requirements with the opening of its new energy-efficient next generation data centre in Reading.
The new facility, the latest addition to InTechnology’s growing Cloud infrastructure, is now fully open and rack space is filling up rapidly. Equipped with next generation, energy-efficient technology throughout, it has been designed to provide reliable, secure and affordable hosting outside of central London and the M25.
Law firms keen to take a closer look are invited to attend an Open Day on April 25th – interest can be registered here.
Natalie Duffield, sales director, InTechnology said: “Location has always been critical for our customers, as have security and resilience. These remain important criteria but today, particularly with the relentless rise in power costs, the demand for efficiency is now a key driver.
“As part of our ongoing commitment to providing a best-in-class infrastructure and to meet our customers’ growing data hosting needs, our main priority was to create a new facility which offered efficient use of power, cooling and space and which could be economically maintained.
“The Reading data centre has been built to Tier 3 standards and we have used only next generation equipment supplied by leading vendors. The combination of ultra-efficient technology and highly efficient design is very different from simply taking a legacy data centre and feeding it with green power, and ensures that the production of core carbon pollutants is minimised. In addition, it gives us a realistic PUE target of 1.25 which is well below the industry norm.
“One of the key efficiency drivers for this facility is the way we cool the air. Rather than cooling it with energy-hungry chiller units all year round, in colder months, ambient air from outside the data centre is sucked in via window louvres and circulated by air-handling units.”
Like InTechnology’s other facilities in London and Harrogate, the Reading data centre is embedded in the organisation’s highly resilient, nationwide MPLS network as part of its end-to-end Cloud infrastructure.
InTechnology has tailored bespoke suites for its new Reading customers and preconfigured suites are also available for immediate occupancy.
The facility is highly secure, has sophisticated monitoring and recording equipment and is manned 24/7/365. InTechnology will also work with customers to accommodate any specific security requirements they might have.
Natalie Duffield said: “Space is still available and I would encourage anyone looking for a secure, next generation hosting environment to come and visit us and see the facility for themselves.”
