New boutique firm CANDEY LLP opts for outsourced accounts as a service from Virtual Practices
CANDEY LLP, a boutique firm founded last year in Lincoln's Inn has selected Virtual Practices for accounts, integrated with time recording and secure online legal cashiering delivered as a service. CANDEY LLP's office premises may be old and in the heart of London’s legal centre, but this contrasts with the firm’s very modern approach to IT where the goal is to maximise the use of Internet technologies not only for using legal software but also for telephony with voice over IP (VOIP). Led by Ashkhan Candey and Nigel McEwen, Tarlo Lyons' managing partner of 11 years, the law firm spun off from Tarlo Lyons to provide an enterprising, straight talking law firm for entrepreneurs. As Ashkhan Candey explains: "The firm aims to think creatively, and provide clear and effective commercial advice, an approach that is sometimes lacking amongst traditional solicitors who are too often steeped in a cloak of legal jargon." Targeting the very specific sectors of hotel & leisure, media, international trade and recruitment, CANDEY LLP has seen significant client growth and expansion over the past 12 months when most firms have been cutting back. "With a clean IT slate, we were in the position to take advantage of new technologies to help us operate as efficiently as possible, without having to incur unnecessary high internal overheads”, said managing partner Ashkhan Candey. “It is essential to us that there is no conflict between our in-house IT support and our external outsourced providers. The attraction of Virtual Practices is that we have a one stop shop and the ability to add more users on demand as we expand. The support has been very good especially during the critical early days of converting to Virtual Practices and our constant phone calls for assistance." Virtual Practices simplifies back office functions including record keeping and accounts updating as well as supporting fee earners with integrated time recording, customer relationship management (CRM), matter and document management. The outsourced online legal cashiering service provides the reassurance that the accounts comply fully with Law Society regulations. The service is accessed via the Internet and paid for on a subscription basis. CANDEY LLP was recommended to Virtual Practices by Elite – the system supplier that the partners had previously used. The law firm has just gone live. Stephen Parry, business development director of Virtual Practices said: "Virtual Practices gives start-ups immediate access to our latest SOS software at no capital outlay and removes the headache of meeting mandatory accounting and reporting requirements. We were one of the first, if not the first provider of legal software as a service and are delighted to welcome and support new firms like CANDEY LLP."
