Pinnacle: Capturing teams in time

Given that law firms had to mobilise at an unprecedented speed and scale come lockdown, they responded pretty well by all accounts – a view certainly endorsed by the participants in the first Briefing Tiger Teams session.

But the agility shown in the wholesale move to working from home mustn’t stop there, as change has inevitably brought with it challenges – some major, some minor, but all need solving.

Microsoft Teams is a case in point. The ability to meet, and make and receive calls, through the conferencing and collaboration platform has been an undoubted lifeline for firms keen to maintain service to clients.

But for users of time recording/capture tools, including the Intapp Time toolset, there was a bit of a problem. Unlike activity that takes place in MS Office, which is captured by Intapp automatically, there was no comparable functionality for Teams. That was potentially a lot of billable activity going missing in action.

So it needed solving, and the long and the short of it is that Pinnacle brought together its own internal Tiger Team to figure out a solution – which was developed and tested internally at high speed before being rolled out to a launch client. The Teams to Time connector has plugged that time capture gap, and in record time – and by so doing kept time entries accurate and complete, which in turn will help take the friction out of the billing and collection process.

It’s a very timely example of the Tiger Team philosophy at work – that supremely focused, cross-functional effort to come up with an answer today. And as suboptimal tech and process increasingly come under the microscope, it is rapid solutions with a bit of bite that will win the day.
