Allen & Overy supports START on Give & Gain Day 2016
Allen & Overy’s partners and people from across the Middle East are packing boxes for refugees, orphans and children with special needs who are involved with the START charity’s art workshops.
START was identified by A&O as an ideal beneficiary of volunteering hours on Give & Gain Day – 19 May 2016. START’s art workshops are aimed at healing and educating children who have suffered with war, pain and loss. These workshops give children the opportunity to express themselves, engage with others, and develop a feeling of self worth.
A&O’s box project will support START’s art workshops through donations of crayons, colouring pencils, paint brushes and other creative materials – and as gifts for students during Ramadan.
Nicola Lee, START Director UAE, says: “We were thrilled when A&O contacted us to supply boxes of goodies for our students. This contribution will make a big difference to many young girls’ and boys’ lives across the Middle East. Thank you so much to everyone at A&O who volunteered to pack boxes for our students on Give & Gain Day.”
Simon Roderick, managing partner of A&O Middle East, says: “START’s art students are ideal beneficiaries of our box project. Every year at our Offsite, we undertake a CSR activity and this year was no different. Our people volunteered their time to decorate cookies for the Al Noor Centre for Special Needs, pack boxes for START and raise funds through a quiz for a number of charities across the region.”
Give & Gain Day is a celebration of the power and potential of employee volunteering across the world. Since 2008, more than 82,000 people in at least 35 countries around the world have taken part in Give and Gain Day. To find out more about START visit www.startworld.org
