Tikit case study: Forshaws Davies Ridgway
With 130 employees, FDR is a Cheshire based law firm offering comprehensive solutions to businesses and private clients in all disciplines. The traditional values of the company are combined with a forward thinking approach using the latest technology. By offering the right mix of knowledge, experience and resource, the clients’ needs are serviced to the highest level.
The firm provides a full range of legal services to businesses and private clients. For businesses, these include commercial property, employment law and investment management. For individuals, these include criminal defence, family law, property, wills and personal injury.
The origins of the company date back to 1750. Collectively, the dedicated commercial team has over 200 years of legal experience. Giving jargon-free professional advice is very important to FDR.
FDR is Lexcel accredited. This is the Law Society’s nationally recognized practice management standard, which is only awarded to solicitors that meet the highest customer care and management standards.
The primary requirement for FDR was to improve the credit control process. Managing the numerous small administrative and compliance tasks associated with each case was a huge issue. Allocating significant resource to each fee earner to complete these tasks would result in a large overhead. Expecting the fee earners to complete the work themselves would result in tasks being done late or being missed altogether. With aged debts increasing, FDR needed to resolve the problem quickly.
Adhere to compliance regulations and improve other admin tasks
Keeping on top of compliance regulations is of paramount importance to any legal practice. FDR wanted an efficient way of identifying and dealing with data anomalies in P4W, the case management system from Tikit. These included missing or incomplete data, rejected posting slips, unbilled time, money remaining in clients’ accounts, high risk cases and KPI overruns.
Extend marketing capabilities
FDR identified that help was required with marketing. Triggering communications as a result of actions on Partner for Windows, that targeted specific businesses or individuals, was potentially very powerful. Sales would increase due to the new strategic and time sensitive approach and costs would reduce due to the elimination of manual tasks.
“Our philosophy is to provide our clients with outstanding legal services that are built around their needs. Giving a tailored personal service is very important to us.” David Wood, Chief Technical Officer
