Intercity Technology announces acquisition of IT Managed Services provider Imerja
Intercity Technology Limited has today announced that it has acquired Imerja Limited for an undisclosed sum. As an award-winning specialist in IT managed services, infrastructure and security solutions, Imerja will add considerable depth to Intercity’s service offering, enabling the enlarged business to provide a full suite of complex and secure communications and IT services to its customers.
With operations across the UK and Europe, Intercity has been at the forefront of the mobile and unified communications industry since it was established 30 years ago. The deal with Imerja follows on from Intercity’s acquisition of cloud communications, network services and hosting specialist Gage Networks earlier this year.
Imerja has been providing a range of sophisticated IT services to its public sector and enterprise clients since its inception in 2004. The business holds an impressive collection of accreditations and will also provide Intercity with access to a number of public sector frameworks, including all four lots of the Government Digital Marketplace G-Cloud. Headquartered in Bolton, Lancashire, Imerja also has offices in Hertfordshire and Leicestershire. All Imerja staff, including the senior management team, will be retained post-completion.
Imerja is fully accredited to ISO 14001, ISO9001, ISO27001 and is an approved Commercial N3 Aggregator, operating around the clock supporting its customers infrastructure from its UK Network Operations Centre. Imerja also provides a range of hosted and cloud services from its two UK tier3 data centres.
Andrew Jackson, CEO of Intercity said “I’m delighted to welcome Imerja to the Intercity Technology family. Imerja brings a deep expertise in IT managed services and security, which allows us to offer our customers complete technology solutions across IT and telecoms. There is a strong cultural fit between our businesses and like us they focus on service excellence and technical knowledge to differentiate in the market”.
Ian Jackson, MD of Imerja commented “Imerja has established itself as a reliable and trusted partner to the customers we serve. Our ability to provide a range of infrastructure and security services into the public and private sector is the envy of the industry and is all thanks to the commitment of everyone who works within the business. Being part of Intercity Technology will provide us with range of mobility and communications solutions to sit alongside our existing IT services; we are extremely excited to be a part of the Intercity Technology business”.
Jon Gill led the TLT team providing legal advice to Intercity, with Dom McAra heading up the EY financial due diligence team.
The shareholders of Imerja were advised by KPMG, with DLA providing legal services. Jonathan Boyers, head of corporate finance for KPMG in the North and lead advisor on the deal, commented: “Imerja’s track record in providing high-quality secure IT solutions to enterprise and public sector organisations meant that it was a natural fit for Intercity Technology. The combined capability created by this acquisition, coupled with the addition of the experienced Imerja management team, will add significant strength to Intercity Technology’s existing portfolio of communications and IT services”.
