Briefing Knowledge Leaders 2025: How law firms are redefining knowledge in the age of AI
On 9 October 2025, senior knowledge professionals from the UK’s leading law firms gathered in London for Briefing Knowledge Leaders 2025 — an exclusive conference exploring the evolving role of knowledge management in the modern firm.
Held in partnership with leading technology and consultancy partners including DraftWise, Legora, 3Kites, Definely, Harvey, Litera and Sysero the event united more than 60 knowledge and innovation leaders to share strategies for adapting to the new realities of legal work.
From understanding the wider economic climate to tackling AI transformation and workforce development, the sessions delved into the skills, tools and leadership qualities that will define the future of knowledge in law firms.
Key themes from this year’s conference
Discussions throughout the day centred around three major questions shaping the knowledge function today:
- Adapting for the AI era – Leaders explored how the rapid evolution of AI is reshaping knowledge work, demanding cleaner data, stronger governance, and cross-functional collaboration between business services teams.
- Reinventing knowledge leadership – The role of the knowledge leader is expanding beyond curation to strategic enablement — embedding knowledge directly into client delivery and innovation.
- Upskilling the AI-enabled lawyer – Firms shared new approaches to training that balance human skills with digital fluency, from AI-driven learning platforms to rethinking fundamental legal education.
A community leading the change
From economic insights to practical firm case studies from Travers Smith, and thought-provoking leadership discussions from Freshfields, Browne Jacobson, and Kennedys, the event celebrated the creativity and resilience of the knowledge community.
As one panellist put it: “Knowledge is what will power these AI tools — and it’s also what will differentiate one law firm from another.”
