NetMotion: ILTACON 2021 – Efficiency is the name of the game

The world may have gone hybrid over the last two years, but fortunately some in-person events and trade shows are popping back onto our calendars. One such event is ILTACON, the International Legal Technology Association’s annual conference.

This year’s event, held in Las Vegas, brought together a range of peer-driven programs and educational content designed for IT professionals in the legal sector, but it was perhaps the networking opportunities that provided the most valuable interactions for the attendees. Being one of the premier events within the legal community, the conference had even greater relevance in 2021 as it brought hundreds of people together to learn about the latest trends and technologies that can help their firms maintain security and compliance all while managing a very different working landscape.

Dedicated legal team

In 2020, NetMotion created a new, dedicated team of experts to cater specifically to the needs of the legal sector. Prior to ILTACON, the majority of the team’s interactions with legal customers had been done virtually, so to finally meet many of the people they had spent so much time working with was a very positive experience.

“As this was our first time at ILTACON, our goal was to meet as many legal professionals as possible,” said Matt Brown, head of legal services for the US market. “We wanted to continue building relationships with people in the industry, and fortunately we succeeded.”

ILTACON is always a big draw for senior level executives, and this year was no different. Because of that, the team had the opportunity to meet with many legal firm IT directors and CIOs, as well as IT managers and administrators.

“It was always interesting to find out what people were hoping to get out of ILTACON. Most of them are trying to learn about new technology and new initiatives within the legal sector, but the human element is so important as well,” said Matt Brown, Head of Legal Services, US.

Looking for efficiency

“The social fabric that these firms have with each other was on full display at ILTACON,” added Erik Helms, VP of international sales. “All of the attendees had a genuine interest in learning how to do their jobs better, and in finding ways to support their firms.”

Many of the attendees who dropped by the booth asked for advice about specific challenges they were facing, or wanted to talk through elements of upcoming projects or digital transformation plans. One topic that consistently struck a chord with participants was the need for efficiency throughout their organisations. Legal IT teams are constantly evaluating software vendors to see what they offer and how they could potentially help their attorneys be more efficient, whether that’s in document management, timekeeping or even in client communications.

When it comes to remote access solutions, many of the companies already have a tool in place, but, according to Brown, it’s important to figure out whether that tool is suitable for a mobile workforce, and doing all it can to help the business. “A secure remote access platform should be capable of providing a better experience for top users. The benefit of using a solution like NetMotion is that IT teams don’t just have to cross their fingers and hope that users are doing the right thing; they establish a Zero Trust environment in which data, applications and devices are all protected and extremely accessible, no matter the network.”

All shapes and sizes

And it isn’t just big firms that can benefit from NetMotion.

“We saw a lot of smaller firms at ILTACON, too. Because of their size, they are often stretched thin, needing IT managers to staff the support desk and take on other roles to help staff. Without the right visibility tools to know what end users are experiencing, troubleshooting can be so much more time-consuming. This is where NetMotion’s versatility becomes a real plus,” said Jenifer Wallis, Account Executive.

“When it comes to secure remote access solutions, the one idea I wanted people to take away was that NetMotion is a cost-effective and efficient way to augment any existing strategy,” Brown continued. “The platform is easy to set up and can seamlessly integrate with legacy solutions. When you realise that these firms’ employees need to be connected in order to bill clients, you understand their demands to have the best experience possible. From an IT perspective, giving employees a better experience AND keeping them safe is genuinely a two-birds-with-one-stone proposition. NetMotion is the perfect way to achieve both without disruptions or breaking budgets.”
